Jean Willy, Principal Physiotherapist

Jean qualified with a degree in Physiotherapy in 1991 in Sheffield, England. She moved to New Zealand in 1993, working in Gisborne and Nelson hospitals before moving into private clinic work in 1994.

In 1995 Jean Willy Physiotherapy was established on Alton Street. Jean works in a large, sunny treatment room located within Nelson East Family Medical Centre. 

Jean enjoys treating a wide variety of clients and conditions, including back and neck pain, sacro-iliac problems, headaches, sports injuries and postural problems. She is a past competitive gymnast and triathlete and spent many years coaching gymnastics in England and New Zealand.

In 2002 she qualified with a Post-graduate Diploma in Manual Therapy, achieved after three years of part-time study.

When not working, Jean loves to keep moving – walking, cycling and swimming – but also enjoys lying on the couch with a glass of wine and a good book!

Sheryl works with Jean at Manuka Street Hospital, providing post-operative physiotherapy to clients following orthopaedic surgery

Sheryl studied Physiotherapy in Dunedin, qualifying in 1989.  

Initially working in Palmerston North and later Lower Hutt hospital, Sheryl then worked and travelled in Canada for two years.  

In 1994 she qualified with a Post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy from Dunedin.  

She started her own physiotherapy clinic in Nelson, providing physiotherapy for the Nelson Giants, Nelson Suburbs Soccer and Nelson Bays Rugby.   Following further adventures overseas, both travelling and working, Sheryl returned to Nelson, this time to start a family.  Sheryl worked part-time as her children grew up, and joined Jean at Manuka Street Hospital in 2013.

When not working Sheryl enjoys having fun in the outdoors with her family and being involved in the community.  She loves to travel and explore new places both in New Zealand and further afield.

 

All physiotherapists working at the clinic are registered with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand, and are members of Physiotherapy New Zealand, the national society. 

Membership requires physiotherapists to regularly up-date their skills and participate in on-going education throughout their career. The physiotherapists at the clinic participate in courses and seminars to extend their knowledge, as well as reading the latest articles to ensure they are providing the best treatment for our clients.
