Appointments

The clinic has been extensively refurbished over the years, providing a very pleasant working environment, with a separate waiting room and one treatment room. You have complete personal attention from the physiotherapist throughout your appointment.

On arrival, there is a registration form to complete if this is your first visit to the clinic. This provides the details that we are required by law to collect, for example name, address and contact information. This is also where we ask you to record any medical history – medical conditions, previous surgery, allergies etc.

A new injury or complaint requires a full assessment, even if you have been to the clinic before with another condition. The physiotherapist will ask you for details about your complaint; which body site is involved, when it hurts, what movements are affected, and whether your sleep is disturbed by the problem. By giving as many details as possible, this helps the physiotherapist begin to make a diagnosis.

A physical examination follows, when the physiotherapist will ask you to do certain movements, and she will test your muscles and joints before explaining her findings to you.

For ease of assessment, you need to dress appropriately, with loose fitting clothes to enable unrestricted movement. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove an item of clothing so the physiotherapist can see the joints and muscles clearly. You may wish to bring a pair of shorts to change into, or wear a sleeveless top if the shoulder is involved.

The utmost levels of patient privacy will be respected at all times.

All clients are welcome to bring someone else to the appointment. Young children and clients with specific physical needs are required to have someone to accompany them.

Initial appointments are 45 minutes.

Follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes, but can be extended to 45 minutes if necessary.
